Step7- Request for Proposal (RFP)

Receiving A Request For Proposal From A Grant Funder

Foundations that do not require a letter of inquiry as an initial approach will often solicit qualified agencies, for an RFP, or a Request for Proposal. An RFP can also be solicited in positive response to initial letters of inquiry. Grant-makers generally require a number of supporting tax documents and information about your organization, and expect this information to be composed according to their specifications. These solicitations include highly specific limitations for applications in order to weed out grant seekers who are not dedicated enough to go the extra distance. This is why it is good to have a team of researchers and writers on your side. Once your grant writing company has received a solicitation for an Request For Proposal on your organization’s behalf, they will help you to compile all of the documentation you will need to complete your funding request. A good research team will obtain additional research on any foundation from which they receive a positive response, in order to tailor your grant proposal to their specifications. This team should research who to contact and what makes them tick, as well as who they have funded in the past in order to evaluate our approach. It is important to contact the right people when making grant inquiries in order not to slip through the cracks in the system. It is also important to be familiar with the grant-maker, their history, mission, and goals, in order to better relate your goals to theirs. The more you and your grant writing company know about them, the better chance your grant writer has of portraying to them that you, their client, are worthy of their generous financial assistance.
